Ice cream and cupcake shops are becoming increasingly cutesy. As someone interested in store design, I was really excited to come across Once Upon A Cream.
It is an ice cream shop in the beach resort town of Hua Hin, about 200 km south of Bangkok, Thailand. The shop was designed by Bangkok’s MADA Design Factory.
The shop has a crisp balance of whimsy and old-world dairy.
There is definitely a nod to Willy Wonka with the pieces of machinery and copper fixtures, the peppermint tables, chewing gum colored seating, and blue fluffy clouds on the ceiling. The counterbalance with old-dairy accents are the white tiles, clean surfaces, and wooden boxes.
